I have had a few friends who are struggling this week. I struggle at times myself and read this devotional from Proverbs 31 Ministries and it encouraged my heart, so I thought I would share it with you today...
"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:8 (NIV)
Have you ever noticed how some TV commercials mix just enough truth with their product to make it believable? While that's called false advertisement, the product still comes off convincing. It's not until we purchase the product, and it fails, that the trickery becomes exposed.
In the same way, Satan specializes in false advertisement. He's good at making our fears look real when they are not. Does that mean all fears are wrong? No. The fear of standing near a high cliff protects us from getting to close to the edge and toppling over. One the other hand, Satan's spooks are full of trickery. They are usually disabling and keep us from progress. This kind of false advertisement can choke our faith and fuel our fears.
Have you ever wondered where our struggle between faith and fear began? I have. According to author and teacher Malcolm Smith, fear was introduced to the human race by a satanic lie.
The Garden is the first place where the serpent deceived Eve by twisting God's word. The Lord told Adam not to eat of any tree in the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17). If he or Eve ate from that tree, they would surely die spiritually. Not only did Eve eat the forbidden fruit, but she offered it to Adam and he ate too.
As soon as Adam disobeyed God, their relationship changed. Adam was not only afraid, but he doubted God's authority, friendship, and provision. Satan's lie told Adam that he didn't need God. In fact, Adam was persuaded that he could be his own god, self-sufficient in every way.The same can be true for you and me. At times, you an d I live independent of God's presence. We act as if everything depends on us. We wouldn't dare admit that we are in over our heads. We want to appear in control. But God never meant for you and me to be strong in and of ourselves. We were meant to show His strength in our weakness as He provides for our needs. We were created to live like little children, dependent on the care our heavenly Father.
The times we insist on living life our way, in our own strength, we experience the same result as Adam and Eve. We will live in fear. This is right where Satan wants us.
If we're afraid to try, we never will. If the enemy can keep us contained by fear, we won't be able to fulfill our potential or make a difference in the life of another. Satan knows what we are capable of with Christ. To prevent us from that realization, he poisons us with fear.
The truth is what we fear rarely comes to pass. This kind of fear that is fueled by Satan's lies can be described by this acrostic:
False
Evidence
Appearing
Real
It's not that we shouldn't be concerned about certain issues of life such as safety and health. But when worrying takes over by keeping us up at night and shutting us down during the day, we've moved into a place we were never meant to live. We must return to living in God's presence and relying on His promises and provision. Only then will we be able to distinguish between truth and lies. Only then will our lives be marked by faith, not fear.
Dear Lord, help me to discern between false fears and real concerns. As I commit Your Word to memory, make Your truth alive in my heart so that I can battle fear and live by faith. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

An Untroubled Heart by Micca Campbell
Application Steps:
Determine if your fears are real or if they are only False Evidence Appearing Real. If your fears are real, heed their warning. If they are smoke and mirrors performed by the enemy, take those thoughts captive and give them to God in prayer.
Reflections:
Do you doubt God's provision and protection - why or why not?
Are you living independent of God's presence, or carefree in His care?
How can depending on God's resources and strength eliminate your fears?

Romans 8:31, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (NIV)
John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled and do not be afraid." (NIV)
1 Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." (NIV)

GUEST DESIGNER AND AN INVITATION FOR YOU!

This month, I am the GUEST DESIGNER for the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog! I am very excited about this and have been posting things through out the month. If you do not go there often, I would highly encourage you to check frequently! They have some wonderful projects posted by other Design Team members AND they have Guest Designers who are NOT on the Design Team as well! There will be many Guest Designers in 2009 who are not part of the Design Team.
I am also very excited because I have started a NEW GROUP on Paper Crafting Planet -just for the BELLI CHALLENGES! The Challenges and pictures for the Design Team will still be HERE all in one convenient place - but I thought it would be a fabulous way for us to get to know each other better and have everyone share in the excitement of your work! So posting can be done there with links and things. I will include more information on the group - but please come join us!

Now for todays project...I participated in Paper Craft Planets Sketch Challenge . A few months ago, Technique Junkies had a Challenge called the BANDANA TECHNIQUE, but between August- early December, I am pretty busy with school and church activities, so I didn't get a chance to try it out until this week. I had so much fun with this technique and love the results so much, I am going to make another card with using the technique!

I used these materials to make this card...

Stamps: Live the Dream by SU, Pray Without Ceasing by SNS
Paper: Whisper White, basic Black, Pretty In Pink, Night of Navy
Accessories: Flower Accents - unknown, Silver Brads, White Gel Pen, Large Oval Punch, Paper Snips, Dimensionals

Have a wonderful weekend!
Merry Christmas!

Color Challenge, Sketch Challenge and I learned something New!

This morning, my children and I went to the Milwaukee Recycling Center for a field trip. It was very interesting!

I am not sure about you, but 2 of my 4 children have a problem. As soon as you go anywhere and it looks like you should listen to learn something, we HAVE to go to the bathroom. It is a MUST. So before the tour started, I took them to the bathroom. Smart, eh? Then they wouldn't have any excuses. (I still ended up in the bathroom during the tour two more times.)

Anyways, the above sign was something I saw. I am ALWAYS telling my children they do not have to run the water on full blast that it is a waste. Soooo when I saw this sign, I HAD to take a picture of it so I would remember what it said to SHOW my 17 yo what the recycle center said about it. :) She will probably roll her eyes at me. BUT you know what my revenge will be? In about 15 - 20 years, she will think how BRILLIANT I was AND be saying the same exact things to her children! Yes...I know I am evil. heehee

I was looking at some blogs this morning and saw this sketch. I just loved it, so thought I would share it with you and use it for my inspiration today! Remember how I was looking for Lori Barnett last week? Well, this is from her blog. You can check it out HERE.

I also looked at SCS and their COLOR CHALLENGE today was Pink Pirhouette, Basic Black, Whisper White. Here is my take on it...

Here are a few more details:

Stamp Sets: Jesus is Born
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Pink Pirhouette
Ink: Copics, Black Brilliance.
Accessories: Gun Metal Stickles, Flame Dew Drops, Mini Glue Dots, Primas, Nestibilities, Cuddlebug, White satin Ribbon, Dimensionals

Do ya see my smudge? ARGH! I accidently put my finger in the ink pad and then smudged the card. I hate when I do that. Don't you?

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

BELLI CHALLENGE #36 LEAVES

TO LEAVE or NOT TO LEAVE? That is the question... ***giggle*** More on that below...

What is the Belli Challenge you ask?

Each week, I try to give us a challenge that will use things we have lying around our stamp rooms! With a constant flow of new things coming out, I tend to forget about the other things I have and they quickly become clutter!

This Weeks Belli Challenge is to use a LEAF...ANY kind of leaf... I know in my stamp room alone, I have about 4 leaf stamp sets, 3 packages of skeleton leaves (HAD to have those a few years ago and there they sit), Leaf Brads and Leaf paper and probably other leaf treasures!

Here is what you need to do...

Make a completed project embellishing your work with your LEAVES. Share the link here in the comments linking to my Blog and CBC36. When you post to Splitcoaststampers or to your Blog, be sure and put CBC36 as the KEYWORD and mention of the challenge - with a link!

I will do a random drawing for all participants and have a special pack of assorted Designer Papers for the winner!

The winner of last week's Challenge was ED check out her beautiful project here. Ed please contact me at adickinson@wi.rr.com and I will mail you your pack of DP. Thank you for participating!

Here are the details of my card:
Stamp Set: My personal design Autumn Blessings

Paper: Old Olive, Basic Black, Really Rust, More Mustard, Glossy White, Whisper White
Ink: Craft same as above, Versamark, Black Staz On
Accessories: Iridescent Ice EP, Heat Tool, Nestibilities, Dew Drops, Scalloped Edge, Paper Piercing Tool, Lg Oval Punch, Gold Zig Painty,Dimensionals, Mustard grosgrain, Mat Pack, Skeleton leaves

I could not decide if I should have the extra leaf or not. I think I like it better WITH. What do you think? Too busy? This is also Faith's Sketch Challenge for the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Release Party. You can win the stamp sets for each challenge if you participate in them! You can view the challenges here and you have until October 7th at 12 p.m. to post you art work!
