COURAGEOUS EYES...

Hello Everyone - I have a short tutorial for you today using the Luminarte Silks! I just LOVE this Crafters Workshop Treescape stencil and thought it would look SOOOO Cool stamped. So I added adhesive to the back and taped it down.

  I grabbed my Viva Silks Pretty Peridots and Cinnamon Brown and stippled the Silk Paint on and stamped the image on some White Cardstock.

 

Once this dried, I painted Creative Inspiration Paints Sky Blue using the Tim Holtz Water Brush.When the background dried, I laid the Crafters Workshop Treescape stencil over the tree image and grabbed the Tsukineko Squeegee and the AWESOME ART ANTHOLOGY GELATE Frost and applied over the entire background that the stencil did not cover. Susana has soooo many COOL Mixed Media supplies - head on over and shop and grab some new toys!!! So Fun!

 Here are some more details: Stamps from the Eyes of Adventure and Fables - Courageous Eyes and colored her with Copic Markers and Creative Inspiration Paints: Denium, Onyx, Antique Silver, Sky Blue, Coal . I used Dimensionals to pop up Courageous Eyes and finished off the project with Viva Pearl Pen Dark Brown.

PAINTED PRIMAS TUTORIAL

Hello Everyone- Happy Thursday!!! Remember a few years ago when the big rage in flower land was these paper Primas? Well, they keep coming out with BETTER product yet we have these left overs laying around. ACK, of course, I buy all of the new stuff too, but need to be a wise steward and use up my older things too. In an effort to do this, I grabbed my Shimmery, fabulous Creative Inspiration Paints and thought I would make some leaves and paint my Prima flowers too, to match my card!

You can use any type of paint brush you wish! I used an Aquapainter. Choose your paint color and your Prima flower. I bought a large bin of white Primas, so I will be creating a leaf with this one!

Paint directly on the flower with the paints that you like. Be careful to not over saturate with water as you paint. If you do, carefully use a Heat Tool to dry the flowers.

I did not have the right color of rose, so I mixed my own color. I used a touch of Burgundy, Rose and Fairy Frost and painted the color directly on the second Prima.

Once the paint is dry, I trimmed the Prima flower to create more of a "leafy" look.

Don't you just love the shimmer with these paints???

CORNER BOOKMARK TUTORIAL

Hello Everyone, This week over at The Brakefast Club we have a weekly challenge. This week's challenge is to create a Bookmark! I thought it would be fun to make a corner bookmark and include a small tutorial...

These handy bookmarks fit right over the corner of your page! I would LOVE it if you played along in this week's challenge! You do not have to make a corner book mark. You can make any kind that you desire!

CORNER BOOKMARK TUTORIAL          

MATERIALS NEEDED

1- 4" x 4" piece of cardstock or patterned paper

1 - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of cardstock or patterned paper

Extra cardstock to stamp on

Red Tacky Tape

Scoring Tool

Paper Trimmer

Border punch (optional)

Stamps, I Brake For Stamps

Ink, Embellishments

1. Take the 4” x 4” piece of cardstock and mark in the center of three of the sides.

2.  Align cardstock onto the scoring tool diagonally and score from one line to another.

3. Turn the cardstock and line up the other two marks and score.

Step Four: Fold the scored lines.

5. Optional: If desired, using the border punch, punch along the straight edge.

Step Six: Place the 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” card stock on the paper trimmer diagonally and cut in half.

  

 

7. Adhere one triangle to the front of the corner bookmark using the adhesive.

Step Eight: Flip the bookmark base over and put adhesive across the triangle flaps.

Step Nine: Adhere the second triangle to the bookmark.

Step Ten: Finish as desired.

AIR BRUSHING TANK TUTORIAL

Hello Everyone -
I have had several people ask me what I use for my Airbrushing for the card I made HERE (also the Belli Challenge!

I thought I would let you know, take pictures and write up a small tutorial... Last year, I asked my sweet husband for an Air Compressor for Mother's Day and rather than buy me one, he had an extra air tank in the garage and for under $3.00 (US currency) he set me up with this air tank! It is NOT the prettiest, but it is QUIET!


















If you do NOT want to have an air tank but rather use the Copic Air cans - you will need to buy the Copic Airbrush Starter Set - Merri Artist has a great price on this. Ellen Hutson has these supplies HERE too.

Another thing you can do is buy an air compressor for this too. This runs around $200-$300-. Depending on where you buy it. You will still need the Copic Airbrush Starter Set.

The Sparmax AC-101 Windstorm Airbrush Compressor features a 1/8 HP motor and a true automatic shutoff. Produces 40 psi on / 60 psi off. 12-14 liters per minute airflow. Includes 2 airhoses, moisture trap, true air regulator (not a bleed valve). A set of hose adapters for all major airbrushes are included.

That maybe be noisy though, which doesn't work well when you have young children or others sleeping while you craft! Ellen Hutson has the Sparmax AC-100 Windstorm and Merri Artists has the Sparmax AC-101 Windstorm Airbrush Compressor. Both run about $200- plus shipping.

Ok - moving on to my Air Tank - If you had to buy everything that I have here, you could do it for UNDER $125-, even less if you bought it all on sale...

1. We had an air tank in the garage - this one is 7 gallon, but my husband says a 5 gallon would work too. (see above picture)
2. He removed the flexible hose and bought 1/4" x 6" tubing and screwed that into the hole.
3. He had a regulator with a gauge that regulates the pressure down. (pictured below)

















4. From ANY hardware store, he bought 1/4" barbed fitting with outer threads) and attached that to the regulator.

5. He also bought 1/8" tubing rated for 60 pounds about 6 ft. long so I can make it reach across my mess.(see image below.)


6. On the other end of the hose is the Copic adapter and he attached that with another Barbed fitting (with inner threads). With the supplies we had in the garage it cost us a total of $3.00 (us)
7. You will need to have the Copic Airbrush Kit, ABS-3, I bought mine from Ellen Hutson, however Merri Artists has it for a few dollars less. So depending on where you like to shop, save on shipping and buy it from that place! :)

I am NOT mechanical at all, so this really helped me, plus SAVED me money for other stamp supplies and MORE Copics! :) By the way, I typed this up BUT with my husband's help. NONE of this makes sense to me (except for the $3 part!) That is why I included pictures!!! I am a visual person. I am NOT mechanical so when he explained it to me it was like speaking FRENCH to me AND I DO NOT speak French!!! :)

STAR BOOK CENTER PIECE TUTORIAL

This Center Piece is similar to the Star Book that you may have seen, but I have created more of a table center piece

Supplies:
5- Window Card Kits – these come precut and pre-scored!
Killer Red Sticky Tape
3-4 extra pieces of cardstock 4”x 5 ¾”
stamps, ink and things to embellish with
Diecuts – I used the fall leaf diecuts from Creative Cuts and More
Bone Folder
Oval Cutter
Designer Paper of your choosing cut at 8 ¾” x 5 ¾”
Cord

Step 1: Take the smaller layer from the Window Card Kit (the one with the center cut out) and stamp any images you want to decorate this layer. Using your Bone Folder, following the pre-scored lines fold the cardstock into a W shape.

Step 2: If you want to use an addition with words, I used white cardstock and added the words. Cut your cardstock to 4”x 5 ¾”. Using your bone folder, score at ¼”, 2” and 3 ¾”, proceed to fold.


Step 3: Stamp the image so it will appear in your oval. To attach the layer to your cardstock, place Killer Red Sticky Tape on each ¼” side you have scored and attach as the image shows (maybe a little straighter than mine) making sure your stamped images appear in the oval centered.

Step 4: If you want to add a Spinner or suspended Image to your card, you will need about 5 inches of cord and tape. Once you have the suspended article stamped or embellished as you want it to appear, attach with tape on the back side.

Step 5: Attach the first layer of your pre-cut Window Card Kit to the second layer, putting tape only on the sides.

Step 6: To put it all together, place Killer Red Sticky Tape along the edges. Once that is complete, CAREFULLY attach the edges of each piece to one another. When you are finished, it will look like a Star when you look down upon it. See top of post for the image!

Step 7. If you want to add another layer of Designer Paper like I did cut your paper to 8 ¾” x 5 ¾” and lay the smaller layer from the Window Card Kit (the one with the center cut out) over your designer paper centered. Taking a pencil trace the Oval out. This will give you your guide to cut the oval out. I used a Creative Memories Oval Cutter, but you could use the Coluzzle too. Once you have the oval cut out, attach the Designer Paper to your project and decorate it as you would like too.
