Time Well Spent

Stampin' Up! sent us a new stamp set!!! It is a level 3 Hostess set that will be in the next catalog. I decided to do Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 150 with it and play some...

The first thing I saw when I opened the stamp set was the big flower -I thought what a great thing to make POP with some added layers!!!! Well, you know sometimes I get a little crazy with the layering - but I always like the way it looks. LOL

I used the 1/8th hole punch for the little circles and white gel pen to highlight areas. Thanks for looking!

A Fall Challenge

Well, I started watercoloring this project a year ago. I saw this stamp and fell in love with it...but then the season passed and I never completed the project. Have you ever done that!? I have tons of UFO's (unfinished objects) in my office. LOL

Well, I combined my friend Debby's sketch challenge with this card. Pulled it out and finished watercoloring it. I used the Twinkling H20's along with my water color crayons and Aquapainter. The SU stamp set I used was All in a Row and their Hostess set So Many Sayings...the paper is Gypsy Harvest and I used copper brads.
Thanks for looking! Have a fabulous day!

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge- WSC24

This is what I created using Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. The paper is Chocolate Chip, Marigold Morning (SU retired) and Daisy D's Designer Paper - Gypsy... For SU products I used the Bronco, All In a Row and Wild About You stamp set. The Ink I used was chocolate chip and I used the large Pewter Brads with hemp and glue dots. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lopsided Circle -another take on Debby M's Sketch

Well, after viewing the sketch and creating the previous card - Holly from Holly Bear Creations, suggested to off set the circles.... So here is what I came up with...

On my last card, I had originally made the circles too large and had to trim them down. This left me with scraps of lunar shapes. When I saw them I had this idea! Always use your unique shaped scraps! :) The colors I used were from SU - Pomegranite, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky DP, basic Black and Whisper White. I also used to white gel pen to highlight areas on the paper.

One thing I thought - but had the card already well glued down was to add brads going down the sides of the circles - for a little extra "something."

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

Debby's Sketch Challenge for 10-16-07

The polar bear card was made by Debby M. This was her sketch. Isn't it great? The card I made using this sketch is the Merry, Merry card. I used the Soft Sky designer paper - stamped on it. I used the Coluzzle to cut the half circles. The colors are Purely Pomegranite, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi and Basic Black....

This card uses the small clips made by SU. I just LOVE them. I used the TRUE FRIEND stamp set, along with the Circle of Friendship and the All In a Row. I rarely use the Handsome Hunter, so thought it would be fun to play with - I also sprayed Glimmer Mist on the card to add some shimmer. Once I stamped the image and sprayed the Glimmer Mists - the ink ran a bit so I went back over it with a marker to give the image a "crisper" look.

Weekend Sketch Challenge

Well- with my schedule lately, it seems I have about one or two days a week to stamp. This week I worked on Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge and this is what I came up with... http://beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/category/weekend-sketch-challenge/.
I purchased a product called Glimmer Mists that adds a colored shimmer to your artwork. I also used the Crop-O-Dile and added the dimension to the small circles on the oval punches. I got a little over zealous with the Glimmer Mist and had to highlight some areas with the white gel pen. The Faux Stitching uses the All in a Row stamp set.

WSC-22 Timeless

This weekend, my friend Danita and I did some stamping. It was lots of fun. Here is another card made with Beate's Challenge. This one used a stamp I do not know who made. I borrowed it from Danita. I just LOVE this image!

I crumped the paper and then sponged it with bordering blue and lightly with Navy. I also sponged the Blue Bayou ribbon with Night of navy to make it a bit darker. It worked out prefectly and matched the Bordering Blue better. The butterflies and the watch - I cut out and used dimensionals to give the card a little "dimension."

This was a color challenge too from Splitcoast Stampers. The colors I used are Regal Rose, Blush Blossom, Bordering Blue and Night of Navy. I also used the French Flair BG, Canvas BG on the cardstock.

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge- WSC18 Trying again

Apparently, it is too early in the morning. :) I hit the wrong button and sent it through, so I am trying this again. This was Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge and the design I came up with inspired by her sketch...
I used It's Your Birthday, Stamp of Authenticity, So Many Sayings, and the By Definition stamp set. I also stamped the Rough Edges Wheel on the patterned paper. I used the Soft Sky Designer Paper, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White and Black cardstock. The ink I used was the same colors as the cardstock. Using the Stamp of Authenticity set, I stamped off and stamped on the designer paper.
Punches: Word Window Punch, 1/16th hole punch, 1/2" circle, 3/4" circle, 1 1/4" circle, 1 3/8" circle and the Spiral Notebook Punch. Whew!
Other Accessories: Vintage Brads, Paper Trimmers, Dimensionals and Blue Bayou Double Stitched Ribbon.

Emboss Resist -Summer By The Sea

I water colored this image about a year ago and it didn't work for my project I was creating at that time. So it has sat in my "To do something with" Box since then. When I saw the Resisting Fall Challenge on Splitcoast, I immediately thought of this image. I embossed Clear Embossing Powder on Pale Plum cardstock. Then I sponged Perfect Plum on the portion that was not embossed.

The Stamp Two Step

The Stamp Two Step For this challenge, we needed to create a card that uses the same stamp for our background layer as we did for the main image.
This was the card I made. I used Linen Bg, Close as a Memory and Warmest Regards. I used the Going Gray, Basic Gray (stamped off) on the background. I stamped off for the Linen bg too. Real Red and Always Artichoke - on the floral image. I poked holes and colored the Pretties Flowers with Markers and atatched with a BLING brad from the Pretties kit.

Tempting Texture

One of the VSN Challenges today were using TEXTURE. Any kind of texture could have been used, hemp, dry embossing, heat embossing, etc. I chose a Cuddle Bugged image that my friend Holly sent to me. I water colored it using the Twinkling H20's. (for those of you who do not know cuddle bug is a dry embossing type machine) - I then used my Crimper both ways on the Old Olive and the Rough Edges Wheel in More Mustard on the More Mustard cs. I love the Prima Flowers and the Stampin' Up! Earth Element Brads. I also used the Circle of Friendship stamp and painted those again with the Twinkling H20's - I used SU's circle punches and assembled the card. I decided it needed a little hemp so using mini glue dots and wrapped the loops of hemp.

Thanks for looking!

More Mojo was flowing -

I forgot to add (I do that a lot don't I?) that I used Red Sticky Tape and Microbeads on the grape image. I also water colored the image with Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an Aquapainter. Have I mentioned I LOVE watercoloring? Thanks for looking! :)

The Mojo was Flowing....

Have you ever had a day where everything was just clicking along? I had a FUN day of stamping today and went through my box of scraps - and was able to use some odds and end pieces that have been lying around for awhile. I have a BIG box of scraps.

This was a card that I made for the VSN challenge today - this was the Make like a Tree and Leave challenge - it had to have something to do with leaving -

This card I used LOTS of stamps on: The PSX stamp was my friend Danita's stamp, I borrowed from her while I was over at her house a few weeks ago. The rest was Stampin' Up! - I used Canvas in Elegant Eggplant, French Flair in Always Artichoke, With gratitude, the leaves stamp in So saffron ink on So Saffron cardstock. The Floral BG was used in Always Artichoke and on Always Artichoke cardstock. I used my circle cutter to make a partial circle on Artichoke and Eggplant cs. The words were from my computer and my Bible!

Have a great night!

Christmas Slider Card

One of my customers wanted a Christmas card designed that could incorporate a family photograph. This card is made with all Stampin' Up! products and the picture is my oldest daughter Ariel and my middle daughter, Grace. The photograph portion of this slides out. The card fits into a business size envelope. I used an Aquapainter and the Watercolor Wonder Crayons to paint the image. The stamp set is retired - Heavenly Peace - the background image is the current Floral background from Stampin' Up! Colors are Bravo Burgundy, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke.

Noah

Good morning! As I sat here this morning, my 7 yo son, Noah came and sat next to me. He happened to see this Blog and I showed him Sarah's picture. He immediately said, "Where's my picture?" So here it is. We went camping this past weekend and here he is being goofy. This was the most "normal" picture that he did - we are in the goofy face stage. heehee

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=271904

First Day of Pre-school

09-05-07 Well, my girl is going to her official first day of school for 2007-08 school year. I home school my other 3 children. Sarah was so excited to go to school today, she barely even waved at me as I left. I am working on my Mom's Minutes right now for the curriculum I am using for Noah and Grace. Ariel is excited to start her Junior Year, so is diligently working on finishing up some assignments from her Sophomore year. I am feeling a little overwhelmed looking over this curriculum. It's okay, because steady plodding through each moment will help em to achieve my goals! I am in constant reminder that NO discipline is pleasant at the time, however it produces the peaceable fruit of righteousness by those who are trained by it! Hebrews 12- That is my FOCUS right now - discipline in my eating, work and school schedule as well as serving my family! Oh and did I mention? Squeezing in STAMPING or SCRAPBOOKING each day! heehee Have a fabulous day! Thanks for coming to my Blog - I will post a challenge later in the day!

Tuesday, September 4th

This is the first time I have done something like this! Not that I am going out into open Shark infested waters but at the same time, I feel excited.

I have a few friends who I often stamp with and we give one another challenges, either sketch challenges ot color challenges. Holly and Danita are their names! Last night, I stamped with Danita. We used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge:

This is what I made. I stamped the With Gratitude images from Stampin' Up! in Versamark and used Stampin' Up!'s Pastels and sponge daubers. The background is stamped in Well Worn Words and Canvas.
